I didn't add too much coloured pencil in the end, but I did add a few touches just to boost the colour in a couple of areas. As I thought, the texture of the paper isn't really coloured pencil friendly so I didn't go overboard rather than trying to force it. With any luck I'll be able to get them in the post in a day or so and off to my friend who requested them.
Onwards and upwards
Why I should feel guilty about not doing any work on these on Christmas Day or Boxing Day I don't know, but feel guilty I did! So I got my act together this morning and got working. Colour laid down and subsequently built up, and once I was satisfied, I could add the gold gouache and bronze pigments in the background.
